Stop everything and back up your files. Do not open any more files.
Error 5 indicates a serious problem and is generally fatal for any file that throws it.
Has ANYTHING new been done to the computer since the last time you ran ID? What is the OS?
I am on windows system 7 - I have everything backed up everynight - it's just todays work I will have lost. I also keep manual backups - which I do when I finish for the day. This just happened at th end of a day darn it...
Signs and reaches for a jug of coffee...
Long night ahead.
Thanks anyway - I thought there might be a miracle cure but guess not
You can try Kasyan's free tool: INDDRecovery — a program for restoring corrupted InDesign documents
And I would run System Restore and go back to yesterday, or uninstall ID , run the cleaner tool (CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3) and reinstall.
probem is i have a mammoth job in hand and not sure I can risk that at the moment but come Tuesday I will certainly be on that idea like a rat on a cheese
Thanks for you help
Am now recreating magazine - luckily I only lost 44 pages and have a pdf I can refer to when redoing pages so al thethought work is done along with al the picture processing which to be honest is what took me most of the time.
Again you have been an angel
