Actually, make that three. I have three images in the "All Synch Errors" group in the Catalog section of the left hand bar.. No idea why they have errors.
Have you tried removing them from the synced collection, then adding them again? Highly technical procedure, I know.....
Oh yes - me is technical me is!
Seriously though, I've added, deleted, modified, made sure they weren't in other collections, optimized (sic) the catalog (sic) - both as a standalone action inside LR and as part of the back up on exit process - and on the Mobile side, I've done all of the above within the Mobile App plus stopped synching, restarting the iPad and the App and in all combinations...
Driving me mad it (still) is
What might be distinctive about the image? Is the actual image missing? If you right click it and choose Show in Finder/Explorer, does LR find it?
How do you know it isn't syncing? Is it because it never appears in a collection on the iPad/Phone? Does it appear in LrWeb?
There may be a sync.lrdata file that you can delete (you on Mac or PC?), but first it might be better to see if one of the Adobe guys spots this thread. He may have a better idea.
No - there is nothing distinctive as far as I can see. All the files exist - the underlying files are all in Explorer (Win7/64)
I first noticed the issue this afternoon when I started playing with Adobe Slate and wanted to synch LRM to Slate. All good, all fine - except I had 114 images in the Collection in LR and only 113 in the Collection in LRMobile. I did a manual reconciliation between the two and discovered which file it was and then saw the little additional symbol under the Synch icon on the image indicating an error with the Synch.
It was then that I Googled it all, discovered the "All Synch Errors" group, found I had three problem images and ended up here!
Cheers for your help thus far John - at least I know I've checked in all the right areas...
You might want to look at the log file which you can generate from LrDesktop's Preferences dialog. It's just a guess that it would show something, but no harm trying.
UPDATE - I forgot to say that in Preferences, you have to hold down the Alt key for the log button to become visible.
I cannot see anything obvious but I'm not sure what I am looking for! I've generated the log and it's at the link below.
Yes, it's "technical" stuff, and I'm not sure what might be there. Have you searched the log for one of the problem file names? That may or may not reveal a clue.
One other thought is whether you can sync a virtual copy of a problem file, but for now I'd suggest you wait till one of the Adobe guys sees this thread. They're actively looking for problems in this area, things might be slower over the Easter break.
I've also been playing with Slate and maybe you'd be interested in Comp too, another new Adobe app which can access LrM photos. In fact I was just putting together a Slate story about Comp, using LrM to bring screenshots of Comp into Slate, and getting myself very confused...
From LR Library remove the photo from the syncd collection
Go to the folder containing the original and select the thumbnail (highlight it)
From the menu choose:
Library >> Previews >> Discard Smart Previews
Click the button “Discard One”
Now drag the thumbnail back into the sync’d collection.
Does that make any difference?
Perfect solution. Thanks ever so much!!
That is interesting. I'd always thought that LR would generate a new smart preview for uploading, but this implies it might be using existing ones .
Yes, me too - and another thing I found out whilst going through the fix 99jon suggested was that you can tell which other collection it is in from right clicking the image. It needs to be removed from ALL those collections if the fix is to work.
