    Unrecognized Event Datatype Using ActionScript 3.0 Cookbook

    JaeWebb

      This is my first time using Flash 9 Alpha (F9A)/ActionScript 3.0. I am using code from the ActionScript 3.0 Cookbook so I assumed it would work immediately; this is not the case. I've verified that my code looks exactly as it does in the Cookbook with two exceptions:

      1) the image file I'm using, which is located in the root directory with the .fla file.
      2) the Cookbook import statement for the Event class is "import flash.events.Event;" but F9A didn't recognize ".events." and gave me another error, three errors total. In response, I changed the import statement to "import flash.event.Event;" and got rid of that error, resulting in two errors total.

      Even still I'm getting these two errors:

      -------------------------------------------------------------
      **Error** C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My_F9A_Project\BitmapLoader.as : Line 15, Column 36 : [Compiler] Error #1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: Event.
      public function onComplete(event:Event):void {
      ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable BitmapLoader is not defined.
      -------------------------------------------------------------

      Can anyone help me figure out what is going wrong with this?
