    expanding tables while keeping one cell fixed

    TSemmes Level 1
      Does anyone know what the best way is to create a table of two columns and one row that
      a) fills the entire browser window and
      b) the left colmn table cell is fixed in size and doesn't adjust to lthe browser window

      I tied keeping the table sized to 100%, then in cell #1 indicating a width of the exact size it is. but it still seems to adjust proportionally.

          Have you tried setting the left column to fixed width (150px) and having the
          right column set to 100%?

            Are you familair with some simple css?

            Look at the example code below. (infact you can copy it an dumb it in a
            new Dreamweaver document) You give the first table cell an 'id', in this
            case called 'col1' and assign a width to it, 200px (see the css #col1).
            Leave the second table cell width blank, this will auto stretch to fill
            and available horizontal space which is available in the browser.

            padding: 0;
            }
            #col1 {
            width: 200px;
            background-color: #CC9966;
            }</style>
            </head>

            <body>
            <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
            <tr>
            <td id="col1">Col 1</td>
            <td>Col 2. Col 2. Col 2. Col 2. Col 2. Col 2. Col 2. Col 2. Col 2.

              'dump' that should be: (infact you can copy it and dump (insert) it in a
              new Dreamweaver document)

                Thanks!
                Both of those two solutions work.
