As of now only flv videos can be embedded / played on timeline. However we are evaluating to support embedding/playing H264 videos on timeline but only as an author time feature.
Thank you, Mohanaraj. How do I generate an FLV file in order to do that? When I open Adobe Media Encoder, it doesn't give me the option to generate an FLV file. So how can I convert an MPEG to FLV format without the option in Media Encoder?
yes you can still embed videos into the timeline using .mov,.mp4,.flv etc.. but it is strongly recommended to use short video clips.

Thanks rezun8. When I try to embed an mp4 into Flash CC 2014, I receive an error message and I am unable to click the "Next" button since Flash is saying the format isn't compatible.
I'm wondering how to convert an MPEG to FLV without the option in AME available anymore.
glad to help out,
I have seen some video conversion software out there, I want to say I even saw a site that converts it for free.
Do a quick google search and Im sure you'll find something
I also tried converting using VLC Media Player, but wasn't able to. Adobe Media Encoder is a great conversion tool and I use it often, but it doesn't offer the FLV option anymore which is where my dilemma lies.
