                it's probably all actionscript as this offers the most flexibility . Though you can do it with either, you'd have to do the animation etc with actionscript. Judging by the speed at which the pics are loading I guess they're using a loadVars , XML, or a database file to get the picture names and load them individually at runtime.

                If you're new to actionscript, I would suggest you start with something simpler, though there are plenty of tutorials around on doing all of those things.

                    I think you'd be much better off with a good book. There was a great thread recently on good actionscript books for beginners:

                    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=15&catid=288&threadid =1182762

                    Many of these explain the basics of programming, as well as AS specifics.

                      var webLinks_xml:XML = new XML();
                      webLinks_xml.ignoreWhite = true;
                      webLinks_xml.onLoad = function(success:Boolean) {
                      if (success && this.status == 0) {
                      for (var aNode:XMLNode = this.firstChild.firstChild; aNode != null; aNode=aNode.nextSibling) {
                      webLinks_cb.addItem({label:aNode.attributes.label, data:aNode.attributes.url});
                      }
                      }
                      };
                      webLinks_xml.load("webLinks.xml");
                      function webLinks_cb_Changed(evt:Object) {
                      trace(evt.target.selectedItem.data);
                      }
                      webLinks_cb.addEventListener("change", webLinks_cb_Changed);

                      ******************************************************
                      WebLinks.xml:
