    Text variables

    louisadens

      Hello everybody,

Is it possible to use a subscript or superscript in variable? (Such as  CO2 or H2O)

I've tried everything but unfortunately I can not find a solution

      Thank you !!

Can you be a little more specific? If the contents that the variable is grabbing contains a superscript, it should in fact pick up that formatting. Please explain.

Chad: (taking my chances that this is a very recent addition!), no, the automatic variables do not pick up any formatting at all. Table of Contents preserve character styles, but text variables do not.

Louis: if you're in luck, you are using a font that contains "real" superscript and subscript numbers. These do not rely on InDesign's formatting and so will appear as-is inside variables.

Thank you for your answer ... Indeed, the variables do not work with styles ... I have try everything ...

I thought that maybe there was another way

Hence my question here on the forum

              Good day everyone!
