I can't download flash on my Mac

Can someone please help me. I have tried to download flash on my Mac os X (version 10.6.8) but when I go to certain sites a "blocked plug' in message stil  comes up. I have version 5.1.10 of safari so im not sure if I need to update safari.I know there is a simple way so what do I do?thanks

Its now working. On my Mac I went into Finder,-install flash-right clicked then it loaded.

The 'blocked plug-in' message means plugins are blocked and need to be enabled in Safari > Preferences > Security (exact path may be different in OS X 10.6/Safari 5.1).
