how can I get the lastest version to update????

I have the adobe flash player pre-installed.  however, the computer says that I need the lastest version to be updated.....it won't update...

I follow their instructions, go to manage add on's, and then enable, and close, and then to safety, and then to active X.,,,,but it won't

do a darn thing.  Why??
