I want to upgrade my graphics card for mental ray render and its almost impossible for me to find a GTX 760 or 770 in stock anywhere in
Australia (these are what's in my price range, and also whats supported by Auto desk) so wondering if the GTX 960 or 970s will be supported?
AE does not use any of the more modern cards for Raytracing. It's simply a deprecated feature and you are wasting your time hanging on to it. Learn Cineware, get Element 3D or Pro animator, use Blender or whatever, just don't make any buying decisions dependent on a feature that already was garbage when it was introduced...
strange because Autodesk which is leading 3d CAD software doesn't support the GTX 900 range either, and I have found the ray tracing features in AE quite useful especially when integrated with Cinema 4D. I just can't afford a higher end Quadro.
But thanks for the tips on the other software, already familiar with Blender, will look into the others, prefer the Auto desk suite to Blender though.
