Just downloaded the AIR SDK update (for mac) from 4/14/2015 and it seems as if the package contains version 17.0.0.124 and not 17.0.0.144. At least this is what the air-sdk-description.xml file says.

Release AIR SDK folders have the name AIRSDK_Compiler, make sure you're looking in there. The app descriptor file does say 144, at least on Mac.

Did you overlay the downloaded sdk over current sdk? or share the steps that you followed?

Please follow the steps given in  Update the AIR SDK for ActionScript Projects | Flash Builder 4.7  to update  AIR SDK.

I downloaded the Air SDK for Mac from Download Adobe AIR SDK and app descriptor file does say 144.
