Perhaps you should check this with Show Invisibles Off instead. As it is, it might as well be hidden because there is an invisible marker on top of it (which will not appear in print!).
You can also try to export the document to IDML and open the exported IDML file in InDesign 8.0.2.
Maybe that will solve the problem.
Be careful and keep a backup of the original document.
I have tried convert to the IDML, no changes for this place. But I tried to find this occurrence, when the cursor come this place the visual goes to top of the page (pasteboard area), I don't know, what happened this discretionary breaking.
But, I tried to open with 8.0, its working fine.
I'm really confused and I can't recognize from these result.
Here are some information about this.
Text with special breaking characters used in this area (here is grep sample):-
IDML converted view:
What font is it EXACTLY?
Is it happening with a different font? If so, than it is a font issue.
Hi Willi, Here is the detail: Font: Garamond 3 LT Std Face: Regular Thanks, Selva
Does the problem appear if you:
- Change the font or
- if you apply another language to the text? BTW: Did you choose English?)
No changes while check the font-change and language-setting.
Try to change using GREP from ~- to ~~~- or to ~-~~
Working fine, but the other places also changed with two hyphens. Please advice.
May be you should restart you computer only.
If not, try to uninstal InDesign an instal it once agian.
Sorry for the long discussion.
For your information, we have used more system with 8.0.2 (recently updated this version due to bug version of 8.0). All the systems occurred same problem with this version. But, we have few systems with 8.0. I have checked in these systems, the auto hyphen displayed correctly with 8.0.
