    Lightroom 6 periodic updates

Will LR 6 be periodically updated as was the case with LR 5?   Some comments on webcasts imply that you will only get updates with LR CC, not LR 6

          The webcasts are (probably) incorrect.

See the second comment here for the answer from Adobe:

That comment says, "Listening to Scott Kelby, it seemed like what you buy is what you get with the boxed version." If you watch Kelby much, you will see him talk so fast that his caffeine fueled lips frequently miss details.  He makes mistakes.  My bet is that LR6 will be like LR5, LR4, etc.  Periodically there are decimal updates to include RAW tables for new camera bodies that also include the bug fixes.   The life span of LR5 was two years.  If a Nikon  brings out a D763 in 5 months, will Adobe force it's buyers away from LR6 or force them to go LR CC?  I doubt it.

Kelby does not make Adobe's decisions.  Adobe's huge customer base has people that need, and spend money on, both the stand alone and cloud versions.  Adobe is not so stupid as to drive the stand alone customers to the competition.

Of course I've been wrong before and I don't run Adobe either.

Amen to that! IF Adobe has agreed to allowing him to say such things, they need to rein him in. Over on Luminous Landscape is a discussion where a poster saw what Kelby said and wrote and started the "The poop will hit the fan" comments getting all the anti Adobe people ready to pull out the pitchforks and axes. When in fact, this is nothing new. The poster provided a screen capture of the Kelby text, it's pretty poorly written to 'suggest' that LR6 will have no updates which of course is not how Adobe has done this in the past. You can and should expect dot releases for bug fixes, camera support etc but no new features! Like other cloud based Adobe products, because you subscribe, you can expect new features along the way. There is nothing new here other than the confusion Kelby has provided to his minions.

Of course I too can be wrong but it would senseless for Adobe to have you pay for LR6 then provide zero updates/bug fixes as implied by the grand master of hype.

Actually, the reply to that comment is from an Adobe employee - who confirms that the perpetual version will get fixes but not new features.

Which is how it's always been with a few exceptions. Bug fixes, camera support, etc.

Yes, the non-CC version of Lightroom 6 will get updates, but they will be limited to bug fixes and support for new cameras and lenses. No new features.
