Did you try to log out of CC and log back in.
I installed, rebooted, attempted to launch with no success.
deinstalled and repeated the process
there are no message.
when I click on the lightroom icon nothing seems to happen
Could you try to sign-ou/in via the Creative Cloud (preferences) app and restart Lr desktop afterwards.

I've tried this multiple times. Didn't work.
I even created a new adobe ID (because the other adobe ID was created to trial lightroom 5 )
but to no avail
