I have LR 5. I started it today to import photos. Received a notice about an update so clicked to do so. It brought me to the CC page. Can I only update but transferring to CC??? I'm not sure what I did b/c I received a "welcome to LR" email. Does that mean I did so?
Also, I already have Photoshop CC (I purchased them at different times). Is there any benefit/downside to transferring to LR CC now? I didn't do it before b/c I didn't want to go through whatever the process is to get LR onto the CC. Doesn't seem like that would be a smooth process.
I find the Adobe site to be overwhelming. So apologies in advance if this is very elementary to you.
Hi Jennifer. You do not need to switch to the CC version of Lightroom in order to upgrade. From your note, I assume you have a serial number for your copy of Lightroom 5. Is that right? If so, you can purchase an upgrade to Lightroom 6, here: Products (Look towards the bottom for 'Photoshop Lightroom 6')
With that said, if you are already paying for a single-app CC subscription to Ps, you should have a look at the Creative Cloud Photography Plan, which includes Lightroom and Photoshop: Lightroom and Photoshop | Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plan
