You have some empty or black pixels on the edge of the image. You can fix it in Photoshop or scale the layer slightly in X in AE then pre-compose and use the pre-comp for the sphere.
Thanks very much for your help. Tried that but I'm still getting the same problem. Since I made the map in Illustrator, wouldn't it be better to fix it there as opposed to Photoshop since it's a vector map?
Sorry, in AE could you explain what you mean by "scale the layer slightly in X" ? Are you referring to unchecking the constrain proportions check box and scale % by X as opposed to by both X and Y?

OK, I'm not sure this is the right way. But I discovered that one way to fix the problem is to click on the 3D icons for all layers in the flat map comp.
But with it's scale at 100% my sphere then looks like this:
So I increase the scale gradually to close this gap: Here the sphere's scale is increased to 150%
Now at 163% the gap is nearly closed:
Finally, below, the slit or gap or line disappears when the sphere's scale is increased to 164%. This appears to be the magic number for getting rid of my line issue.
Not sure if this is the right way to go about it. What do you think?
I think, if it works, great!
Found this post since I had the same problem. Just scaling up my map a few points in the original comp did the trick. Thanks!!!
