This seems to be Adobe's only position on this issue: Lightroom doesn't launch or closes automatically after splash screen
But Adobe's suggestion is not working for me. Lightroom 5 was working for me for several days properly. I tried to install Lightroom 2015 from CC and still have not gotten it to work.
I am having trouble on Mac OS X 10.10.3 have tried:
- signing out of CC and signing back in
- removing all LIghtroom Preferences from ~/Library/Preferences
- removing all Adobe Preferences from ~/Library/Preferences
- removing all Adobe .plist files from ~/Library/Preferences
- removing all Adobe Preferences and .plist files from /Library/Preferences
- removing all .lockfiles from ~/Library/Preferences and /Library/Preferences
- removing all files from /Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLCache
- again signing out of CC and signing back in
I still get the Lightroom splash page when I launch Lightroom 2015 followed by the "Continue your trial" panel (26 days left still with not a single successful launch)... and no actual Lightroom.
Thanks for trying to answer my question. But unfortunately my question is about Lightroom 6 (which is the stand alone product) and not Lightroom CC.
Well I just upgraded to LR6 CC and I have the same problem tonight, when I tried to open a catalog I only made this week. I was doing so because I was trying to change the time on some wedding files I shot today. I forgot to change one camera to daylights saving. But the metadata change capture time was not working so I thought I would import the files into the other catalog, change the time, then import the files into the catalog holding the wedding images, but it never would open without the "not responding" error. It's 11:30 PM so I will try again tomorrow.
It seems that it may have something to do with LR mobile. Maybe I clicked a wrong selection when I installed LR 2015 CC. Could that be it? Don't know where to go from here if it is.
I opened PS and the problem seems to have vanished. I'll leave PS open until I finish editing down this wedding we shot, and tackle this issue at a later date if it's still there.
I have done all of the above and more. Anyone found a solution. I just have a brick clogging up my software partition at the moment.
My GPU has been disabled, re-installed (physically) and windows is happy that I have a gigabyte geforce GT740 working fine. Problem is with Lightroom when it is opening and maybe related to catelog. before anyone tells me to create a new empty one or re-install lightroom I have done that multiple times.
In 20 years I have never had so much trouble with software (either at work or home)....
Had same issue with software not responding to Develop module in Light-room 6.
Two days ago, updated my AMD Catalyst. Uninstalled current version, restarted machine and reverted to earlier version seems to have solved those crashing issues on Windows 7.
Go to start, control panel, programs and features, locate AMD Catalyst Install Manager, select Change option between organize and repair, select uninstall manager, express, select current version, restart machine.
Uninstalling latest AMD version has solved the crashing issues on Light-room 6, generated by switching from Library to Develop modules. Hope this helps.
I was wondering did you ever solve this problem? I am having real problems with it and cannot seem to get it working again? Thanks Matt
Was this question ever answered? I am having this problem today and have had this problem multiple times since I bought Lightroom 6 in November. I have uninstalled and re-installed three times so far. Is this just buggy code no one will fix?
Have you tried the suggestions given in reply #1?
The ones in the link? Yes, tonight, in fact. No joy until I uninstalled and reinstalled.
