What version of Premiere Elements and on what computer operating system is it running?
The prime question "Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements, and are you running the programs as administrator?"
Secondary, but import, questions to follow.
Thanks for responding A.J. - Premier Elements 11 – Windows 7 Professional Currently Updated
Thanks for the reply. Are you confirming that you have the latest version of QuickTime installed and still have the Importer error when trying to import your .mov file? If you go to Publish+Share/Computer/QuickTime, do you find QuickTime presets there?
Do you have problems importing any other video formats into your Premiere Elements 11 Editor?
What are the properties of this .mov file? What is the brand/model/settings for the camera that recorded the video?
Any chance your video is coming from a cell phone or device that records video with a variable frame rate instead of a constant one?
Let us rule in or out the above mentioned factors and then we will decide what next based on the details in your reply.
Thanks for the follow ups.
You are aware I’m sure of the instructions in the back of a booklet that comes with a new appliance: “Appliance will not start or operate” and the first item on the checklist is “make sure it is plugged in”…well…I hadn’t plugged QT in…I had forgotten I removed the QuickTime software at some point in the past and of course the videos would not run…sorry for my dumbness…you were great to respond…
Thanks for the important news that you are moving forward in your Premiere Elements projects. Good news. Good job.
And special thanks for the follow up. Appreciated.
