I am doing a poster with two images. One is the main color photo and the other is a rounded image to write text on it.

How can i trim the image with this bizarre corners shape? so the both will fit right.

You're right that is bizarre, but that's besides the point ;-) You could approach this a couple of different ways. I would suggest drawing a square filled with paper. Then draw a circle on top of the square with the same width and height. Select both the circle and the square, and choose Window > Object and Layout > Pathfinder. Click the subtract button. Then with the object still selected, choose Object > Paths > Release Compound Path and remove the corners that you don't need. Now just position the shape where you want it to appear.
