I don't think you need a network connection to use InDesign CC (once it's downloaded). Maybe you need to trash your preferences.
Your document is on the server? I suppose that the network connection is not stable. Does it happen with local saved files?
I am having the same issue with working on an InDesign file on a server, where if I try to export out a PDF I will get a, "The network connection was lost..." and it will crash. If I try to work off my desktop, it is more stable, though I will sometimes get an "Adobe InDesign is shutting down. A serious error was detected..." crash.
But - I only have these issues with InDesign Creative Cloud (2014.2).
I also have InDesign CS6 on my computer and it has never exhibited any of these issues. I can work on files located on our server or desktop, export out PDFs, without any issues - and have been doing so for years.
I'm running OS X 10.10.3 on an iMac (Late 2013)
