Hello everyone, new to after effects and animation so please forgive my ignorance.
I know you can have normal maps in after effects via the plug in Normality. But does anyone know if you can apply a rig (using maybe duik) to a 2d character and then link the normal map to the same character causing it and hence the shadows to move with the character animation? Thoughts? Are there any good tutorials or tips out there you can link me on lighting a 2D scene + character?
Simple answer: No. You cannot deform an existing normal pass since the colors would no longer be representative of the actual direction vectors for a given sample point. And normal passes have per se no shadow information to begin with. Any such use is completely arbitrary and requires a complimentary depth map to boot.
