can't upload from premiere elements to youtube

    janicey38892545

I'm trying to upload a 25 minute video to youtube. It says the following: "The video duration exceeds the maximum duration supported by the destination. Please reduce the duration of the video and try again."

youtube supports videos of this size now.  How can I get past this?  Thanks!

Unfortunately, you can't upload a file that size directly from Premiere Elements. (In fact, even YouTube requires a special account for a file that size, I believe.)

In any event, you can still try outputting the file manually and manually uploading it to Youtube.

You didn't say which version of the program you're using but, in version 13, the best way to output a video for YouTube is to go to Publish & Share/Computer/AVCHD and select the YouTube HD option. This will create an MP4 that is perfect for uploading.

For your workaround, you have been pointed to Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD with Presets = YouTube Widescreen HD.

The default for that preset is 1280 x 720 @ 24 progressive frames per second with a bitrate of 8 Mbps (megabits per second).

If you want other than that default setting, you can customize that preset to 1920 x 1080 @ 29.97 or 25 progressive frames as well under the Advanced Button Video tab of the preset. Determine if the bitrate needs adjustment and the file size is acceptable

You might also want to explore using Presets = MP4 - H.264 1920 x 1080p30 (or 25 as appropriate) and customize the preset under the Advanced Button/Video Tab of the preset. Watch the file size.

If you are OK with the 1280 x 720 for quality and file size, then please disregard the suggestion for this. If you are interested in the suggestion, do not hesitate to ask questions or ask for clarification if needed.

Steve:Thanks so much for this info.  It worked. Even though I'm using version 11 I was still able to follow your instructions and get my video on youtube.

Saved me a lot of hassle. Thanks again.Jan

Thanks for the good news of your success obtaining a suitable Premiere Elements export for upload to YouTube at the YouTube web site.

                  Good job of follow through.

If you decide to explore the choices beyond the YouTube Widescreen HD preset, please do not hesitate to ask if any questions on that.

                  Best wishes
