What os and reader version are you using now?
I have the latest iOS for the and the reader is the latest Adobe Reader.
[discussion moved to the Reader/Acrobat DC for mobile forum]
Do you have an iPad or iPhone running iOS 8? Which app do you have? Adobe Reader for iOS (the previous version) or Acrobat DC for iOS (the new version)?
For Acrobat DC for iOS, please take a look at the "Select a file location" section of the following FAQ document.
You can switch to Local to see the folders and files that are locally stored on your iPad/iPhone.
Please let us know if you have additional questions.
I have an iPad and iPhone 6 Plus that are both running on iOS8. On the iPad and iPhone it I have the new version Acrobat DC.
Did the FAQ document (that I mentioned in my previous reply above) answer your question about locating your pre-existing folders?
No it did not. I had several pre-existing folders with several pre-existing files in each folder that are no longer on my iPad, iPhone or the Adobe Document Cloud. How do I locate or get my pre-existing folders back?
If you had uninstalled the previous version of Adobe Reader before installing Acrobat DC, iOS (the operating system, not Acrobat DC for iOS) erased all of the application data (including the PDF documents and folders that were locally stored on your iPad/iPhone).
But if iOS automatically updated the app to the new version, your pre-existing local folders and files should be still intact.
Other users were able to find their "lost" folders and files in the Local section.
Is it possible that the folders and files are stored on your other iOS device?
I can't think of any other reasons why your folders or files disappear...
I did not uninstall the previous version it was automatically updated. I also have a MacBook and logged into my account via the MacBook and my folders are not there either. I then used my husband's Microsoft Surface and our desktop (HP) unit and could not locate the folder on those devices as well via my account. I can understand not finding them on my devices (local) or recent however they should be in the document cloud regardless of what device I am on.
Would you tell us where the folders were originally located? Local or Adobe Document Cloud?
Have you tried the following for Adobe Document Cloud? (I apologize if you have already done it.)
- Open a web browser.
- Go to https://cloud.acrobat.com/
- Tap/click "Document Cloud" under the storage section in the left pane.
You should see your files and folders in the Adobe Document Cloud regardless of whether you sign in from a desktop computer or iPad/iPhone.
You may have multiple Adobe IDs (e.g. yours and your husband's). Please make sure to try all of them.
If you believe that your files and folders in Adobe Document Cloud have been lost, I'd recommend asking a question in the Document Cloud PDF services forum. Adobe staff in the forum should be able to look up the activities in your account(s).
