    Remove Andrew Showers

    Level 7
Maybe I'm the only one this bothers, but would would one of the Admins
please kick "Andrew Showers" off the forum? All he showers us with is
spam, and I wouldn't trust any of the links in his posts not to be links
      to viruses.

      Anybody else second this?

I have a contact email of someone that looks after the forums. So will email
him about the spam email that has been coming through to the forums
recently. I am sure that Andrew Showers is not a real person or is his email
          address.

As long as this forum can be accessed by a newsreader, anyone can post to it
under any name and any email address and so I don't see how a person can be
blocked. But, i will try find out what can be done.

          regards

Just for the record. It bothers the ^&# out of me too. But I look at it
this way. We're awfully lucky we only get that stuff once in a while. I
realize that there aren't enough forum participants to make spamming
worthwhile. But about 95% of my email is spam and since spam filters often
filter good mail, I don't use one. When I did, I had to scan all the
            flagged email anyway.

Just recently, I received 2000 rejection or spam blocker responses in a day
and I was told that because I have a shared server, it's easy for spammers
to bounce email off mine so 2000 emails were sent with my return address so
I got all the rejection notices to recipients who didn't exist and spam
blocking messages from those who had filters. This has happened before and
I end up on black lists.

Spam is definitely a virtual plague and certainly a nuisance but as somewhat
of an environmentalist, I'm sure glad it's only electronic. This isn't the
place for this rant but I had to vent.

                Hi all,

I spoke to a guy who's the Adobe User to User Forums representative. He said
he'd follow this up with the engineers and see what they can do to filter
                spam.

I'll keep you posted if I hear anything else.

                regards
