I need to send a document to a client that he will edit and send back to me - how can I do this and still retain indesign functionality in the returned document, but make just text boxes editable in the clients copy?
I've tried sending pdf's which they open with Nitro Pro and can then edit, but the returned document then loses any INDD workability.
The only applications that will work are InDesign or InCopy.
Rorohiko had a product called Story Tweaker. It's deprecated now (no longer supported), but it will do what you want. https://www.rorohiko.com/wordpress/indesign-downloads/storytweaker/#Downloads
When I send documents to my clients, I just have them mark up the content using the text edit commenting tools. Then you can either inout the changes manually, or if the client is very good at copy-editing (and using the text markup tools properly), you can use DTP Tools PDF Annotations to import and automatically apply the changes to text text in your InDesign document.
