What format was the file you uploaded? Which OS is the server running?
It was an apache server. I'm not sure of the file format -- it was 'compiled' on a mac and had an OSX extension.
If a Mac executable ever touches a non-Mac file system, it will lose
it's resource forks and (as you've seen) not open when you double click
on it. The standard way around it is to archive the executable in
Stuffit or Zip the file. You could also do the Mac-standard method of
creating a .dmg file (there are free programs that can do any of these 3
The point is that you need to wrap the executable file in some other
program to prevent the loss of the resource fork.
