We are looking into making our technical dokumentation using InDesign CC. On the other hand we have suppliers still using Pagemaker 6.5. How do we handle this isue?
If you are being supplied with a given file format, it is vital that you are able to handle it as native. To that end, keep a Windows 2000 machine running PageMaker 6.5. Anything else will lead to potential changes in layout and flow which can be very costly and embarrassing.
Certainly, don't even think of using this for your new work - InDesign CC2014 is a good plan. Separate computer.
If you need to bring pages from the suppliers in, make a PDF from PageMaker, and place it (uneditable) in InDesign.
I would take a hard look at your suppliers, you are paying them to use obsolete software. Indesign is much more efficient to use, especially if you have complex documents. Your suppliers should fit your needs.
