I have acquired a new MacBook Pro and need to transfer my existing CS6 to the new computer. Any thoughts on how to do so properly? TIA

Just acquire the installation files and install on the new machine.  You can retain the original installation as a backup if you like since you are allowed to have two activated installations.  If you don't then the minimum you need to do with the old one is to deactivate it.
