Can InDesign CC2014 'hang' and crash over a very good server connection due to OS X Time Machine backing up?

We keep getting clusters of InDesign CC2014 crashes.

We have a very good server. 20 users. It's fast reliable and is never pushed remotely close to it's working limit.
We use InDesign CC2014 across the server, using file links across server space also.
It is very difficult trying to pin point the reason for this. We know:

      - Technically you shouldn't work across a server but we do.

      - Time Machine / Drobo Raid back up could be interfering with the system but server loads never seem to remotely close to peaking or at overload.

      - Crashes are pretty much LINK related (especially if there are InDesign docs placed within InDesign docs).

      - Not a font problem. As individuals are affected not the whole company.

      - All programs have the latest updates.

      - The crashes seem to be random. Cash report is often app failure :

      Exception Type:        EXC_CRASH (SIGSEGV)

      Exception Codes:       0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000

      - Messages are often in this form:

This has only really become a problem since Yosemite met Indesign CC.

      Any help very much appreciated.
