What version of Premiere Elements and on what computer operating system?

Where are you creating this slideshow - in the Premiere Elements Editor or the Elements Organizer?

Then, what is your export goal

            a. DVD-VIDEO standard or widescreen on DVD disc

            or

            b. AVCHD format on DVD disc

The answer to these questions will enable us give you specific information and avoid reviewing information that you are not really seeking.

Project set up, properties of source files on the Timeline, and more are important considerations in getting the disc product with the quality that you want. We can get into those matters if needed.

Any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.

            Thank you.

I am using Premiere Elements 13 and I have Windows 7.  I am creating the slideshow in Elements Organizer. I want to burn a DVD for windscreens TV for my DVD player.  Any help would be welcomed.

              Thanks,Vicki

The Elements Organizer 13/13.1 and Premiere Elements 13/13.1 relationship is different than in earlier versions...no more Elements Organizer Slideshow Editor Output "Edit with Premiere Elements Editor".

If you are going to create your slideshow in Elements Organizer 13/13.1 Slideshow Builder, select from one of the themes and export the slideshow to 1080p. That should give you a AVCHD.mp4 file (1920 x 1080 @ 30 progressive frames per second) saved to the computer hard drive location of your choice.

Open Premiere Elements 13/13.1, go to Add Media/Files and Folders/ and import your AVCHD.mp4 from its saved hard drive location into the project by dragging it from Project Assets to the Timeline. In doing this, the project should have set the project preset to NTSC DSLR 1080p DSLR 1080p30@29.97.

Verify that the project set the project settings correctly. See Edit Menu/Project Settings/General. If set correctly for you, then you should see

                DSLRProject Settings.JPG

Assuming OK, then move on in the project. You can add Movie Menu (Tools Menu/Movie Menu). Next would be Publish+Share/Disc/DVD using preset = NTSC_Widescreen_Dolby DVD.

Please review and consider. If any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. If necessary, I will post the how to for manual setting of the project preset.

                Thank you.

                    Thanks for the reply.

Are you OK importing the slideshow (AVCHD.mp4) into a Premiere Elements 13/13.1 project.

Add Media/Files and Folder/ and navigate to your file on the computer hard drive. The file will go into Project Assets.

From Project Assets, you drag the file to the Timeline.

I would bypass any Tools Menu/Movie Menu for the first try and go directly to Publish+Share/Disc/DVD disc with preset = NTSC_Widescreen_Dolby DVD.

If you get a message about disc menu when you hit Publish+Share/Disc, then just say No to the message.

                    burntodisc.JPG

In this screenshot of the Expert workspace of Premiere Elements 13/13.1, there is no DVD disc in the burner tray, so you will see Status = Media not present.

Are you OK with the above information. Maybe give it a mini test run and let us know the outcome.

Please let me know where you are stopped. In the Elements Organizer 13/13.1 Slideshow Builder or in the Premiere Elements 13/13.1 Editor? Then I will go into more detail in the specific area where you are stopped.

                    Thank you.

You should do fine. Master one phase at a time. We will fine tune details as we go until the project is completed successfully.

Just let me know when and if fine tuning is needed.

I have experienced success and can now burn my slideshows to dvds.  Should I be able to use the tools: transitions, titles & text, effects, audio and graphics?  If so, how?

So glad for the great news of success with your slideshows to dvds projects.

When you build the slideshow in the Elements Organizer 13/13.1, many of the options are limited - not like you would have had with the earlier Elements Organizer or if you build the slideshow in Premiere Elements 13/13.1 Editor. If you go the Elements Organizer 13/13.1 Slideshow Builder route, I see

                            1. No opportunity for user selected transitions, other than what is in the theme you must select at the onset. Inserting the transitions once the AVCHD.mp4 1080p slideshow is in the Premiere Elements will need cutting of the file. And, with the built in theme, it is probably going to be difficult to impossible to get worthwhile user transition into that theme scheme.

                            2. Titles and Text. The enabled Captions feature in the Slideshow Builder is typically going to place a caption above or below the photo or video being displayed. When that gets into the Premiere Elements Editor, it will display the way that you saw it in the Slideshow Builder. What you could do is disable Captions in the Slideshow Builder and, in Premiere Elements, create text titles to be placed on Video Track 2 above your AVCHD.mp4 on Video Track 1. Your best opportunity is to explore "overlays" on Video Track 2 above the video on Video Track 1.

                            3. Audio. Best set that up in the Slideshow Builder under its Audio Tab at the bottom. However, when you do get the slideshow into Premiere Elements Editor, you could right click this whole video file, select Delete Audio, and then replace the Audio with a file that you import into the Premiere Elements Editor's with the Editor's Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets from where you drag your replacement file to the audio track.

                            4. Graphics. I see no opportunities for graphics in the Slideshow Builder. Once the slideshow is in the Premiere Elements Editor, you could use the overlay approach as described in Titles and Text above, using one of the Premiere Elements' Graphics Tab choices.

Please consider. Any questions or need clarification, please ask.

                            Thanks.
