If you have everything backed up on an external drive that's mentioned in the above article it greatly simplifies reinstalling LR. Do you at least have your LR catalog and all image files backed up on a different drive?
The only way to have LR "automatically" reinstalled with all of the items mentioned is to use a disk image backup application. This will also reinstall the OS and all other applications and files on that drive:
Thanks for getting back to me on this trshaner. I do have everything backed up and I could do a disk image reinstall (I use Backblaze) but the reason for wiping the disk was to get rid of a load of gunk (aka other) and I don't want to reinstall all that. I think I'd prefer to start afresh and add all the preferences. It was just a (lazy) thought!
If you have all of the required LR folders backed up you can use Copy & Paste.
On Windows most of these LR folders are in:
/Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/
If you include that folder 'Lightroom' with your normal backup you can get them back into the LR reinstall by simply replacing the new 'Lightroom' folder at that path with the backup copy.
