That sounds like the previews are bad. What happens when you double click on an image in Library and then zoom in to 1:1 and go back to grid view?
Thanks, fir the suggestion.
I just tried to open LR and now I get a message that says:
Lightroom encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quite. Lightroom will attempt to fix this problem the next time it launches.
Of course it never fixes the problem.
I had this before and read where I should the delete the lrdata.preview file. It didn't work then nor now and I had to get an Adobe tech on chat to log into my system and fix it.
Did you manage to get it fixed with the Adobe tech? Normally the deletion
of the previews should take care of this problem except when the catalog
itself has some issues too. If you start Lightroom while you hold down the
option key, you get a dialog where you can choose to test the integrity of
your catalog file itself.

I've been traveling, but am able to log on now and getting ready to contact Adobe tech support. I'll post na update later.
The tech was able to fix it by renaming the lrdata file. I can now work on my photos.
This is what Jao was suggesting you do, renaming is just one way of hiding the previews from Lightroom. I suggest you delete the old previews because they're now of no use and take a lot of space on the drive. I'll mark Jao answer as correct, because it is the correct answer here.
