What computer operating system is your Premiere 11 running on?
There is an AVI option in Premiere Elements 11 Windows
The issue may be that you are not scrolling down far enough in the list of choices under that Computer category.
There is a thin scroll bar to the right of the choices and you need to use that to scroll down for those choices further down the list.
Please let us know if you now find the AVI choice.
I’ve got the Mac version…had seen the scroll bar and it’s only got these options:
Adobe Flash Video
Had thought both platforms would use AVIs!
Do you have any thoughts regarding the export quality problem? I’ve compared the original footage with MPEG export, have set all the variables to maximum and still there’s a significant drop in quality – the footage looks all soft-edged and blurred.
Any help will be awesome,
There is no AVI export in Premiere Elements Mac (any version).
Consider the MOV export to get DV MOV.
Please refer to Share/Computer/QuickTime
Please remind me what the properties are for the video whose qualities you are trying to retain in the export.
Back later and will be watching for the details.
In the Quicktime section we have these presets:
NTSC DV 16:9
PAL DV 16:9
HD 1080i 25
HD 1080i 29.97
The original footage was filmed on a Sony DCR-SR55 (just a bog-standard HDD camcorder) the clip is 720 x 576 with a pixel aspect of 1.4587 (widescreen) and an average data rate of 1.1MBs.
The export options include:
Whatever settings I try exporting with, the results are never as good as the original file.
Thanks for the reply.
What format did you record with the Sony. That does not appear to be a miniDV camcorder. Besides the other specifications that you provided for the source, what are you importing into Premiere Elements 11 Mac.....MPEG2.mpg, DV.AVI, or something else?
If your source is
720 x 576 Widescreen (pixel aspect ratio) = 1.45867
Bitrate is 1.1 Mbps
Have you looked at the following for exports in a Premiere Elements 11 Mac project....
with Presets = PAL DV 16:9
that setting comes with defaults of
720 x 576 16:9
@ 25 interlaced frames per second
and a bitrate of 1 Mbps.
with Presets = MP4 - PAL DV Widescreen
Please review and consider the above, and then let us know if you have already explore the above. If not, please do so.
