That is the Way that AE works. If you ar importing AI or PSD as Composition to AE - then AE chose AI Artboard size as composition size. If you wish to see 100% of every layer that you've imported to AE you can:
- in AE make that artboard larger
- you can change size of your composition that you've imported to AE by chosing Composition/Composition Settings
- you can create a new composition with proper WH size and just comy/paste layers from imported composition to that new one
The Aotrboard will always crop the layers imported into After Effects. You can only have one dartboard. The solution is to make a bigger dartboard then adjust the comp size once you import the file as a composition.
Thanks both. I've no reason to doubt what you say but I was certain that it's work that way for me previously, which was why I found it so exasperating this time. PSD layers don't get cropped in the same way. I might just be mistaken or have confused how it treats layered PSDs with AI files. Seems it should handle them both the same way...
Your memory is faulty. Illustrator artboards have always cropped imported layers. Always.
Thanks for that...
