I'm using InDesign CS6 and making a book with 2 columns on each page. I placed all the text and then go through the book and have each Chapter Title start on a new page. When I do that, the text on the last page of the previous Chapter suddenly aligns itself so that the text is of equal length in both columns. I want the text to end wherever it happens to run out. It seems that something must be set to force the columns to end even in each column but I don't know where one sets that or what it is called. How do I fix it?

Looking at the same dialog box that Michael posted, maybe you have checked Balance Columns.
Yup, the "Balance Columns" box was checked. First I tried to use it on my Master Page but that didn't work. Then discovered I have to select all the text in the book and uncheck the box and that worked. Thanks!!!
