As far as I know, all versions after CS2 should be able to open CS2 documents. Cannot test this, my oldest version installed is CS3.
Depending on the Mac and your current OSX CS6 would be the only logical replacement for your old CS2 version.
CS6 is the only perpetual version available, if you do not want a subscription with Creative Cloud.
But if you want a subscription based InDesign, be aware that you are needing OSX 10.9 (Mavericks) or OSX 10.10 (Yosemite) when CC-2015 will be published soon.
Before they have updated your system (and your Mac?), they (whoever they are) had to know this.
And as a minimum for OSX, you need OSX 10.6.8 to run InDesign CS6 (perpetual).
For the cloud based version of CS6 OSX 10.9 or better OSX 10.10 would be your choice, if your Mac is able to run these.
(In case you want to use the more current versions of InDesign sooner or later)
Thanks for your response.
I have CS5.5 but it cannot open CS2 files, which I have half finished books on..
It says my software is OS X 10.9.5
They are Apple.
Hm, well, that's unusual.
CS5.5 should open your CS2 files.
What exactly happens, if you try to open a CS2 file in CS5.5?
Is there an error message?
I'd like to test one of your CS2 fles with my InDesign versions, if you send me one of your CS2 documents archived as a zip file by mail.
You will find my mail address, if you hover over my name on top of one of my posts here in this forum.
I have InDesign CS3 installed (also CS5.5).
(And also all other versions up to the lastest one, if that would be of use.)
I can't remember what the message says, it was on my laptop that i tried opening cs2 with cs5.5, which i don't have with me.
When i hover over your name it says your email is private!
Ah. It seems to be a difference what I can see when logged in and you could see in the forum…
Well, I'll send you a private message through the forum software.
Just recieved a CS2 document by Celene.
There was no problem opening it in CS5.5 v7.5.3 on Mac OSX 10.7.5.
Maybe something went wrong with installing CS5.5 on Celene's side on Mac OSX 10.9.5 ?
I'll try installing CS5.5 again and check if it works. Thanks for your help, advice and time Uwe!
