but the "drop media" box is still at the end of my timeline. i cant even see the 2 mins of black on my timeline
If you are talking about "drop media" box at the end of the Timeline, it sounds like you are in the Filmstrip of the Quick workspace.
Switch to the Expert workspace so that you can see better what is going on.
Expand the Timeline with the -+ slider above the Timeline. Hit the End key of the computer keyboard. Where does the Timeline Indicator stop - at 3 minutes or at 5 minutes? If at 5 minutes, closely inspect that spot, looking for leftover whole clips or fragments of clips. Typically these fragments present as very thin black vertical lines scattered about the tracks. Make sure that you have all the tracks in the opened configuration and check out all the tracks. This debris needs to be deleted.
I am about to call it a day. I will visit your thread in the morning to learn of your progress and further details.
The important matter is to determine where you have gained those 2 minutes - within the content or at the end of the content.
how do i switch to expert? and no my media stopped at 3 mins but i couldnt event scroll over to the 5 min mark that it said it was at. i wouldnt know it was that long until I tried to post it or export
Thanks for the reply.
We will know more about what is going on once we get into the Expert workspace as described previously.
Premiere Elements 13/13.1 has two major workspaces, Expert and Quick. There is also choices for Expert Guided and Quick Guided.
To get from Quick to Expert, click on the Expert tab in the line up of headers at the top...eLive, Quick, Guided, Expert.
The most important part of using the Expert workspace is to see better where the Timeline Indicator goes when you hit the computer end key and what you find there.
Please do not hesitate to ask if you are not clear on any of the above. We will clarify further to determine if those extra 2 minutes are within the content or beyond the end of it.
