High resolution PDF doen't show page numbers

    machiessen

When I save a InDesign file as a high resolution PDF, some of the page numbers are just gone. In the InDesign file they are still there but in de PDF they are deleted or something. This doesn't happen when I safe it as a low resolution file.

Sometimes acrobat doesn't show elements of the file but when you print it they are there, so then it isn't a problem. But in this case the printer doesn't see the page numbers. Anyone..HELP!!

      (pardon my englisch, I'm Dutch....)

      Greet,

      M

          1. What InDesign version?
          2. What OS?
          3. Did you work with layers?
          4. Are the placeholder for the pagenumbers in text frames on the top layer on the master page(s)?
          5. What are your export settings?
          6. What does the overprint preview show in InDesign? In Acrobat?
          7. What application do you use to view the PDF?

            1. CS 5.5

            2. OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

            3. The numbers are in a layer within the stramien

            4. yes

            5. [PDF/X-1a:2001], saved as spreads. With cut marks and bleed.

            6. In InDesign it shows the numbers, In Acrobat it doesn't.

            7. Adobe Acrobat Pro (10.1.13)

You should put the page number on the topmost layer on the master and take care, that you use an object style, where in the text frame options ignore text wrap is activated.

For print you should normally export single pages, not spreads. Why would you do so?

Another thing I have overseen, you work with CS5.5 and Yosemite. CS 5.x is NOT compatible to 10.10. it may work, but never without problems.

The page numbers are already in the toplayer on the master. The strange thing is that most of the page numbers are showing and some of them arn't.

When I export them as single pages the problem is still the same, some numbers are just gone in the PDF but are still there in de Indesign file.

You say its a problem to work with cs5.5 and my version of Yosemite. So you suggest to take the latest version of Adobe?

Do you see the numbers in ID if you turn on Overprint Preview?

Yosemite and your version are not compatible. It might work for a while, but if problems occur you are alone, as the minimum for Yosemite is CS6.

But I don't think that THIS problem is connected to the version.

Did you check that the text frame of the page number is ignoring any other text wrap? How did you set up the object style of the text frame with the page number?
