You should ask it in the Acrobat Forum, we are here in InDesign.
I am doing this in ID
ID doesnt show the Embed option.
This is an ID question.
Imported files are linked.
How do you export to PDF? Via PDF interactive?
I think the opposite is the way to go, never to embed any file and work with linked as now it is possible to package files and send the package. InDesign files become often corrupted when to many files are embedded and Illustrator also. There are many reasons not to embed.
But when in comes to Illustrator, why should someone need links or embedded files? Only if he wants to edit the file. If someone wants to print or to import an AI file into any other file no one needs to have the links as they are embedded in the PDF part of the file. You can even open such an AI file in Adobe Acrobat as it is like a PDF file.
Ben, thats what I thought, it not being an option yet.
And your remark on Illustrator is correct, its the same story. Its like a Reflow export; you get an HTML file with CSS apart, and an HTML with embedded CSS "to send someone".
Willi: export as interactive of course
What do you mean with "imported files are linked"? I distinguish between linked and embedded (imported).
And it is not a question of embed or not, The question is why cant we embed.
Thanks for your answers Maarten and Willi !
Illustrator was a mistake I meant Indesign
