When a document is sent out to recipients for signature using Acrobat DC and its associated Cloud service it appears that the recipient is given two signing options - (1) either type one's name directly or (2) sign via touch screen. Is it possible to send a document out for signature and present the user with the opportunity to sign using a smartcard/CAC in cases where this might be preferred or required?
There are two types of electronic signatures in Acrobat: e-signatures, which are just stamps with some text or image (including an image of a signature) and digital signatures. If you want to use smart card with a signing certificate on it, you select signing with certificates. In Acrobat DC you select the "Certificate" tool, and it provides you with the ability to sign with certificates. Windows 7/8 will handle most modern smart cards automatically. In some cases you'll need to install additional software for your smart card.
