How do I add and delete pages while maintaining layout?
I have been using InDesign CS3 and recently upgraded to the current version. For some reason I can't insert or delete pages the way I used to be able to without it throwing everything off. For example, I had a picture in the back of the book - if I deleted or added a page that picture moved on top of text on another page instead of staying on its own page in order.
The only thing I'm doing differently now is the automatic paste - where I hold down shift to flow the pages through the rest of the document. I previously created text boxes on each page and clicked the rest of the text into each page (wow, I was so happy to learn the auto fill . . .)
I searched through the info here and found out about the "Allow Document Pages to Shuffle" option and tried it with those turned off. It didn't help - in fact something strange happened and when I inserted one page a three-page spread inserted instead. :/
It's hard to tell what's happening from your description, but it might be Smart Text Reflow at work.
