I am still very new to the world of Adobe CC and I am looking to create a motion text and graphic video to use as an opener for our weekly church services and would also like to include a countdown timer in part of the video. I found a couple videos on youtube that I like as far as concept and design but would like to create something of my own. I'm thinking that I would use After Effects for this but not sure if that's the only necessary application or exactly how to do this. Any tips, advice, tutorials, etc. would be greatly appreciated! I have put links for the videos that I found on youtube below to help give reference to the look & feel I am hoping to achieve with the video. Thanks in advance for any help that is given.
For a countdown, you can use the Numbers effect and keyframe its "value" parameter.
If you want to be more flexible with the formatting, you can also use the "Source Text Bundle" of my extension iExpressions for After Effects.
For more details see the documentation of the Counter Time expression
Also, it sound like you are just getting started with After Effects. To learn the most essential basics in a structured and entertaining way, I recommend my guru lessons (as well as all material listed at Getting started with After Effects (CS4, CS5, CS5.5, CS6, & CC) | After Effects region of interest):
