We can't know. You haven't provided even the most basic system and version info, much less anything else useful liek where your projects are actualyl stored.
What info do you need?
I am using a 2013 Mac pro running Yosemite
The softwares are AE and Premiere Pro CS6
The project files are stored on a 2tb WD elements external HDD. They are organized based on project name and type. this one would have been GBM drive 1>Fur and Feathers>AE files
Have you tried a Spotlight search of your system?
If you add a period before the file name or folder name like .Ae_projects it will hide the folder. You should have received a warning when doing that. If you think you may have accidentally in the folder Google will bring up the solution.
I've tried using spotlight search for it.
