I have been having this problem for several generations of AE and I can't seem to find a problem so I figured I would just ask it here.
I have several compositions open at the same time, precomps, backgrounds, etc.
I will be using the text tool to let's say change the contents of a text layer, I.E. - change 'there' to 'their' in Comp A
I will then click on the arrow tool and AE will all of a sudden send me to Comp B
I go back to Comp A, realize I need to change another piece of text the same thing happens. It is super annoying. I have restarted, updated, cache cleared, searched the forums, etc etc. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Without knowing anything about your actual workspace layout, details about the comps, system info and so on nobody can tell you much. This typically happens when you locked one of the panels like an effects control window and the "context" therefore is sticky, always reverting to the comp that the active panel is associated with.
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I am using the unlocked panels setup on a Mac running OS X. After breaking down my scene piece by piece it turns out a layer window was open with an image that is being used in Comp B. Just by clicking on the text tool in Comp A I was automatically sent to Comp B. After closing the layer window, this glitch was fixed. It seems that AE wanted to default to the layer window and not what composition I was currently working in.
