Please clarify ... does Lightroom only crash, or does the entire computer crash?
In addition, please tell us if you have LR 2014 or LR 2015 as well as your OS.
btw:. LR 6 is the stand-alone version of LR CC 2015 - if you have a subscription, you won't see LR 6.
I get the Windows error box saying there is a problem and that Lightroom will close.
Its a PC, Windows 8.
I had Lightroom 5.7, and to try and fix the problem I downloaded Lightroom CC, and the problem remains in both. I have the Photographer's subscription.
Did you install LR to it's default locations?
What's the path to the catalog file?
I'm having the same problem now. Windows 10, i5, 16gb ram, LR 5. Lightroom worked for several months and still works fine except the app closes the second I press import.Just says "Lightroom as stopped working and has been shut down."
If you want to get helped, you need to answer the questions asked.
I am having the same problem as others: Win 10, 12GB RAM, i5, LR 5.7.10, 1TB internal drive, HP computer.
I can set the keyword(s), change the name of the file, but as soon as I hit the Import button, the blue 'busy' circle starts, and, eventually, Windows says, as above, Lightroom has stopped working, etc. etc.' . I have had to copy my pictures to my hard drive on the computer, reboot, and then attempt to import. It worked right twice, but, I copied the files to an external hard drive(on USB - the culprit), and could not import, having the exact same issues as with an SD card plugged in - nothing else is connected to the USB port, except my Logitech mouse receiver. After trying the external HD on USB, I have not even been able to import from the hard drive, after creating the hard drive folder from SD card, and then rebooting the system. I have reinstalled the ANDROID USB drivers, but have not deleted them, but may try that. It appears if anything is in the USB port, Lightroom dies... Didn't do that on previous version.
So, disconnected the Logitech universal receiver, and was able to import all pictures off the hard drive in one directory. However, the IMPORT progress bar did not show, but eventually imported all pictures.
So, why does Lightroom not like anything plugged into the USB bus?? Latest USB drivers are installed for the laptop. Previous version had none of these problems. Could not find any recent questions/answers on this forum that had a solution.
