Could you tell us what you are missing?
I'm not sure what to add. The lens correction file as installed by Adobe is located at C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom\Resources\LensProfiles follow that on down to the Nikon folder and that folder includes 96 .ICP files containing the individual Nikon characteristics. What I see when in either LR 5.7 or 6.0 is a list containing about 12 lens . . none of which are my two Nikon lenses.
There are no Tokina lenses listed at all.
My two Nikon lenses and the Tokina are all CPU lenses capable of fully describing themselves to the LR application when files are imported.
A listing of what is missing would have no meaning. . . other than I can say that these three lenses are missing.
Thus I'm sure that there is a missing link referring back to the Nikon folder described above. . . . or I've screwed up something during import etc. . . ?
Lens profiles are for RAW or JPG, and for a specific sensor size. If you shoot JPG, you will not see a lot of profiles because most are for RAW. Sensor size does not limit the listing when selected manually, though makes no sense to apply.
For further help, we would need to know the exact lens type, the camer type and if you shoot RAW or JPG.
. . I shoot RAW with a D7100. The lenses are:
1. Nikon 80-400 AFS( the new one)
2. Nikon 60mm macro D
3. Tokina 12-24DX
4. Nikon 24-85G
Sorry I don't have the exact lens nomenclatures in front of me as I type this response; but you get the idea . . they should be represented in the correction options list as they are indeed in the .ICP folder.
Could this be a camera setting change?
While you may shoot RAW, the current image must be a JPG or perhaps a TIF or PSD from a round-trip to Photoshop that won't have many lens profiles for it. Move to an NEF image and you should see the larger list, again.
The file format is a .NEF/RAW file directly from my memory and being processed only in Adobe LR 5.7/6.0. It hasn't gone to Photoshop as I don't use or own Photoshop.
I'm working on the NEF file within LR and haven't gone to any other application. I'm simply trying to adjust the image in LR to include lens correction.
Can you share this NEF file using some file sharing service?
This is a new problem that has never been exhibited until now. All of my .NEF files used to be reported properly when imported and view in the LR develop module.
So I can see no reason for uploaded a single .NEF file now . .as they all now exhibit the very same extremely limited .ICP data.
The basic question seems to be what has changed or could have been changed that could impact six or seven years of .NEF files as a group?
I still go back to a file linkage or a user selection problem.
My LR 5.7 and 6.0 lens corrections lists do not show all of the lenses listed in the installed resources/lens corrections file!
Both LR versions show the same correction lens list.
What version of LR showed the full-list of Lens Profiles for your NEFs? Tell us when you first noticed this issue and what you did that caused the issue to appear (i.e. Upgraded from LR4 to LR5 for example). Have you used any of the files with Nikon ViewNX or other Nikon software?
First, let me say that I never shoot .JPG . . except sometimes when I'm taking item images for the sale of same.
Second, that I never forget to reset my camera back to .NEF.
Third, let me apologize for wasting your time . . I went back and checked my files to when the problem started and then took your advise and checked the file types. I had shot several lenses for sale in .JPG and followed the file types up until yesterday . . . YOU got it right , , they were all .JPG.
Thus I can bear witness to human frailty and dumb actions.
Thank you one and all for following my problem to its final demonstration that human error is the most probable cause for hardware/software failures!
