I bought some ebooks not realizing i'd need to open them in digital editions to download them and used my new email address for transaction.. i downloaded editions and signed in with an old adobe ID never thinking i needed to sign in with an ID that matched the email address i'd purchased the books with. After some playing about the penny dropped and i created a ne adobe ID using my new email address and went to de authourize my computer, followed all the steps and then i get the error message

Unable to Erase Authorisation. Please try after some time.

i've contacted an adobe agent on chat but they have told me to follow the steps to de-authorize and say they cant help any further as its a free programme and to post on the adobe forums

Can anyone help?

If due to some reason, you are unable to deauthorize ADE, follow the below steps:

Mac:

1. Go-> Go to folder.

Go to folder dialog will appear.

2. Type   ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions

drag the activation.dat file to the trash.

ADE will be deauthorized now.

Now Authorize ADE again [Help -> Authorize Computer].

Windows:

Choose Start > Run.

In the Open text box, type regedit and then press Enter. The Registry Editor opens.

In the left pane of the Registry Editor, locate the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adept

Right-click the Adept key and choose Delete.

In the Confirm Key Delete dialog, click OK.

Your authorization will be deleted.

ADE will be deauthorized now.

Now Authorize ADE again.
