LR starts, goes to spinning beach ball of death and "force quit" reports "LR not responding"
Have done the following to no avail:
1) Rebooted with PRAM reset
2) Uninstalled / reinstalled LR twice
3) Deleted PLIST
4) Reset SLStore & SLCache to "old"
Really stuck here as LR5 will not read the catalog built with LR CC.
Not at all what I expected for a $50/month subscription that was supposed to update to current debugged versions

You might try signing out from the creative cloud application manager and signing back in. After you do that, you should see that there is an update for Lightroom CC. Installing that update might help resolve the problem.
