I purchased Lightroom 4 a few years back and installed it on my iMac and it works perfectly and always has. I recently bought a new macbook pro and installed it on here to edit photos when I travel, but every time I attempt to import photos, it comes up with a dialog box that says "The file is from a camera which is not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom." I used the "add" and "convert to DNG" settings at the top of the import screen, but both bring about the same results. I use a Nikon D600 and thought maybe the software wasn't updated to incorporate the camera but even after I updated it it still won't work. Yet my iMac has no issues, any advice?
What precise version of LR 4 are you using? Do Help / About Lightroom to find out, or Help / System Info.
The D600 needs at least LR 4.3 and last version of LR 4 is LR 4.4.1. You can find downloadable updates here:
Otherwise, besides your LR needing updated from LR 4.0, if you “touch” (transfer, view) the D600 NEFs with obsolete Nikon software that came with a previous camera, then they can become corrupted. Test for this by not using any Nikon software to get the photos off the card and onto the computer. There is a utility that can fix this corruption, here:
