Optimum settings on PC for high quality renders

    CJBoucherMedia Level 1

      Hi guys

I built a PC a couple months ago (my first build), expecting it to be a beast but it's having some problems, rendering overall has been good to a point, I just don't think I have the right settings or something.

I'm on CC2014 and I mainly use After Effects and Photoshop for animation so my files can get quite chunky, I got BG renderer demo which is great.

I'm just wondering with my setup what are the optimum settings in AE/ Media Encoder that will give me bang for my buck? because right now I'm not seeing the most of my investment, I've recently gotten Elements 3D from Video Copilot but it doesn't work on my PC as it says I don't have enough memory so I'm having to use it on my 2011 iMac which ironically works better, here are my specs:

      OS

      Windows 7 (64-bit) (might upgrade to 10)

      Hard Drives

Western Digital Black - 3.5 inch 1TB Desktop SATA (this will be my main drive once I finish my next job)

WD 4TB Green Drive 3.5" SATA-III 64MB Cache (will be replaced by new one due to instability so I will use it as a backup drive or just for games)

      Graphics card:

      PNY GT 740 1GB DDR3 VGA DVI HDMI PCI-E

      Motherboard:

MSI A88X-G45 Gaming ACLHD Socket FM2+ VGA DVI HDMI DisplayPort ATX Motherboard

      Processor:

AMD Athlon X4 760k Black Edition Quad Processor (Socket FM2, 3.8GHz, 4MB, 100W, AD760kWOHLBOX, Richland, Turbo Core 3.0 Technology, Virtualization Technology)

      Memory:

HyperX Savage 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) 2400 MHz DDR3 CL11 DIMM XMP (will be getting another set soon)

      SSD:

Kingston Technology 120GB Solid State Drive 2.5-inch V300 SATA 3 (my OS and cache files are based here)

Premiere Pro started stalling on startup for no reason and I have not found a solution to that yet (I have looked) so I've only been rendering in AE and Media Encoder.

If you need more details I'm more than happy to provide.
